Executor Estate Sales, Fairfax, Virginia, 703.385.5452
Executors Estate Sales is another estate sale company where you can get a decent
bargain at a reasonable price. They too usually operate only on Fridays and Saturdays and you can usually get a nice discount
on the last day of the sale. Their merchandise is quality merchandise and you normally do not find junk at their sales. They are very friendly and they do have a website where they provide plenty of pictures for you to preview the merchandise.
We have gotten some nice deals from these folks.
Four Sales, Falls Church, Virginia, 703.256.8300
Four Sales, Ltd is a very professionally
run company. Their estate and tag sales usually are nothing but quality merchandise and that is why we have given them a "four
thumbs up" rating. You will not find any garage sale items at their sales. The quality merchandise is also usually reflected
in the prices of the items they sell, which can be high. However, in most instances, they will accept bids on most merchandise
and will usually give a discount (25-50%) on Sundays. The staff here is not overly friendly either but they usually keep their
website up to date with upcoming sales.
Emerald Estate Sales, Sterling, Virginia, 703.925.0235
Emerald Estate Sales is another professionally run estate and tag sale company
were we have gotten some pretty good deals in the past. However, lately their prices seem to have gone up and their discounts are
negligible on the last day. The merchandise is usually top notch and we have to say that we have found their sales very clean. Their sales people have improved in the past few months and seem friendlier than before. We also like their website, which provides
timely information on their next sale and pictures of upcoming merchandise.
Virginia Estate Sales, Burke, Virginia, 703.425.2150
We just visited our first Virginia Estate Sales sale and were very impressed with the merchandise offered by the estate and tag sale
company. We found that the prices were reasonable, but we went on the last day and the discount being offered was negligible.
The staff was very friendly and courteous. We are looking forward to going to another one of their sales and we will update
this listing at that time. Check out their website for upcoming sales.
Burgess Estate Sales, Alexandria, Virginia 703.751.7879
Burgess
Estate Sales in another professionally run Estate and Tag Sale Company. We have gone to a couple of their sales in the past
and have found that their merchandise is normally very good quality. However, in our opinion, their prices are very high and
their discounts on the last day are very negligible. It is very difficult to find a good bargain at their sales. Their
sales staff is friendly but their website does not provide pictures or information about merchandise for upcoming sales.
Items of Value, Alexandria, Virginia, 703.660.9380
The one good thing we can say about this Items of Value is that they usually
carry quality merchandise and you will not find junk at their estate sales. Otherwise, we have experienced the most unfriendly
staff and although their sales usually go from Friday to Sunday, it is difficult to get a hefty discount on their high prices.
They do have a website, which is very impressive, it not only lists their upcoming sales, but also has an impressive online sales
section.
TME Estate Sales, Vienna, Virginia, 703.912.4200
TME Estate Sales a division of Thieves Market in Vienna, Virginia has
the nicest and flashiest of websites, probably paid for by the high prices of their mediocre merchandise. We have attended three
of their past sales and found that their customer service is good and that they are willing to give a small discount. However,
because of the fact that they sell the "entire contents" of the house, their sales always seem disorganized and not very neat in appearance.

Decorators and Designers Love Antique Fireplace Screens
Back in the old days, I don’t know this first hand because I’m not that old,
but I am told that families gathered around the fireplace to cook and keep warm. In those days, although they weren’t called
a fireplace, but firebox, they still had screens that regulated the heat that came from hearth. These fireplace screens were
normally made of wood, leather and wicker. At this point they were not really made of metal because they would become too hot
to the touch.
